Laser-cut 120mm Fan Grill
thingiverse
To create a 120mm CPU fan grill, I utilized my Full Spectrum 40 Watt hobby laser cutter and opted for 1/8" MDF. However, any easily laser-cut material such as acrylic or thin plywood will suffice, with thickness not being critical. I employed 100% power at 25% speed for engraving light-blue lines and 100% power at 100% speed for engraving black text. The SVG file was designed in Inkscape. This custom grill was specifically crafted for my Electronic Cloud Chamber displayed at Maker Faire NYC, as illustrated on my blog (http://nothinglabs.blogspot.com/2011/09/electronic-cloud-chamber-at-maker-faire.html).
