Laser chain wear indicator
grabcad
In my proposed chain wear indicator, an optical sensor, often referred to as a "laser-scanner," could be incorporated into a hoist or external housing. Two scanners are placed near the chain, one for side scanning and another for top scanning, ensuring continuous monitoring from all sides. By detecting surface defects like cracks, corrosion, or deposits, as well as geometric defects such as nicks, gouges, and distortion by measuring specific points on the chain surface, these scanners offer accurate 3D measurements for various targets and shapes. This technology can even measure fast-moving objects effectively. For instance, Keyence's LJV7000 series provides detailed features and capabilities for laser 2D scanning.
