This feline model was placed on the MakerBot Digitizer platform for scanning, sharing with subscribers afterwards. The positive aspect of its design is that it has no occlusions, such as hidden areas. However, LASER CAT's ceramic body had a reflective coating which could hinder the scanning process. To overcome this, I sprayed it with dry shampoo containing rice starch to make it non-reflective. The scan was successful on the first try! The model was then slightly reduced in size using MakerBot Makerware for printing on the MakerBot Replicator 2.
