Laser Calibration Power vs Feedrate (For Marlin/Repetier/RepRap)
thingiverse
This is a gCode file designed specifically for use in your Laser Engraver, allowing you to test the impact of speed versus power on various materials. The resulting Greyscale burn pattern will measure 140 mm by 107 mm. This test pattern provides an effective way to gauge how different materials will be affected by your engraver's performance. I employed this test pattern to inform my decision regarding the optimal speed for burning an image of a horse. My objective was to achieve a final result that showcased a full range of blacks transitioning smoothly into light greys. To make this determination, I burned the test pattern onto the back of the wood and identified the 10 mm/s line as a suitable option. In hindsight, I should have opted for 12 mm/s instead. Subsequently, I utilized an Image 2 Gcode program to generate the necessary gCode for my engraver, basing it on the 10 mm/s setting that I had previously chosen.
