I wanted to design a component that would keep the laser stationary during printing and return it to the same position every time I placed it in the 3D printer, requiring minimal effort. The goal was simplicity, so this is what I came up with after modifying a 1/4-20 screw to fit snugly around the laser while retaining the four holes that allowed the magnets accompanying the laser to still adhere to the metal fan casing surrounding the extruder. This component functions seamlessly on my stock CR-10s, offering an uncomplicated yet effective solution.
