Laser Assembly 5 axis with Falkirk Style Carousel

Laser Assembly 5 axis with Falkirk Style Carousel

grabcad

A new machine design concept includes preformed combustion liners for adding cooling holes post-fabrication. This innovative idea allows operators to load/unload parts during laser cutting. While still conceptual, it's inspired by the impressive Falkirk Wheel in Scotland. The laser would be hand-driven and combined with a rotary axis for the Falkirk Assembly. This Haas indexer, controlled by dwell time, would cut all 4500 cooling holes while maintaining perpendicularity. A proxy switch could be used to rotate the indexer with the laser head as a workaround. The design adheres to machine limits and welcomes feedback! Renderings, likes, and suggestions are appreciated!
