Laser Adapter for gMax Printer
thingiverse
Instructions: This custom LED cover for a Gmax V1.0 extruder holds an Arctic S3 laser from Wicked Lasers. The support structure of this print is minimal, but printing it with a brim is highly recommended to ensure its stability. Standard slicing software can be used with the laser to produce excellent etchings on cardboard. Optimal settings for etching are: Etching speed = 5mm/s Travel speed = 50mm/s Nozzle width = 0.15mm Layer height = 0.15mm A key constraint is that layer height cannot be higher than nozzle width, otherwise it can cause damage to the print. The ideal object height for this laser would be around 0.2mm, resulting in one single slice of Gcode. To ensure proper focusing, a Z-height of 25mm is required for optimal focal length when using this laser and lens combination. The correct approach involves first generating your G-code file and then manually editing the code to replace "G1 Z0.1500" commands with "G1 Z25" in order to utilize the precise Z-axis adjustment necessary for quality etching.
