MR36C - Towering sandstone walls stretch up to 25 to 35 meters high, each displaying three distinct successions of stacked fluvial channel-belts. These successions are separated by broad, nearly horizontal erosional surfaces that reveal regional patterns, marked by concentrations of gravel-grade mudstone intraclasts, often worn smooth by the relentless forces of erosion. Each individual channel-belt succession is composed of cross-stratified cosets, revealing the complex dynamics of thalweg and large-scale sand bar deposits. Further insights can be gained from Almeida et al.'s (2016) groundbreaking study, "Reconstructing fluvial bar surfaces from compound cross‐strata and the interpretation of bar accretion direction in large river deposits," published in Sedimentology, volume 63, pages 609-628.
