Large Quadcopter Frame
thingiverse
I designed a custom quadcopter frame that exceeds typical sizes, requiring large arms and central panels to print. Many 3D printers lack the capacity to handle such complex designs, but I'm fortunate to have access to an RoBo 3D R1 printer with a generous build volume. Print Settings Rafts: None are required for my setup. Supports: Similarly, I don't need these. Infill: I've opted for a moderate infill percentage of 25-35%. Notes: Increasing the infill % will enhance the stability of the arms. For instance, I used a 30% infill ratio on mine. After printing, it's essential to integrate a powerful motor, and I recommend using a Turnigy Multistar 2213 980Kv 14-Pole Multi-Rotor Outrunner. The chosen ESCs are capable of handling the high performance requirements of the motors. In my case, I utilized a Turnigy Multistar 20A V2 ESC with BLHeli and a 4A LBEC 2.6S. Transmitter and receiver selection is also critical, as they directly impact flight performance. I use an 8-Ch Transmitter/Receiver Kit from Turnigy that fits seamlessly into my setup. I also opted for a PPM Encoder Module to enhance control functionality, utilizing the HKPilot32 autonomous vehicle system with its power module for reliable data transmission. To ensure the drone functions smoothly, a high-performance battery is necessary. In my project, I used a 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack, which serves as the foundation for all other components. For this design, it's essential to have multiple channels and redundancy in case of malfunctions. To address these concerns, I also acquired a GPS module, multiple receivers, and configured my setup to communicate with the drone remotely via my computer. A critical warning: the quadcopter's complexity demanded around two months of thorough research, testing, and adjustment before everything fell into place as desired.
