Large Pre-Choctaw Dalton-Type Projectile Point Arrowhead, 10,000BP

The amazing thing about 3D printing technology is that it empowers you to create replicas of rare, unusual and educational items that might have otherwise remained unknown to you. Take a look at this one. This is an ancient Paleo-Indian to early Archaic projectile point lithic artifact created in the Dalton tradition. These points were widespread across most of Southeast North America between 8500–7900 BC (10,500BP to 9,900BP). The finely crafted pressure flaking is a testament to their skillful manufacture. Heavy resharpening suggests they were often used as versatile knife blades. This particular point is attributed to the ancestral proto-indians of the Choctaw tribe and was discovered near the Tennessee River in Western Tennessee. It is now carefully curated in the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend. Scanned with a NextEngine scanner, you can request proper attribution by contacting Darryl Ricketts (drricket@iusb.edu) if used for any purpose other than personal or if you have further questions. Please be aware that it is strictly prohibited to excavate or remove Native American archaeological resources from State, local, or private lands throughout the United States; do not do it! Help protect these invaluable archaeological treasures. If you find any such remains or items or need guidance on Federal laws, please consult a local professional archaeologist.
