The remarkable thing about 3D printing technology is that it enables you to produce exact replicas of rare, unusual and educational items that would otherwise remain inaccessible. This particular artifact is a late Paleo-Indian to early Archaic projectile point lithic, created in the Dalton tradition. These points were widely found across most of Southeast North America around 8500–7900 BC (10,500BP to 9,900BP). Expertly crafted through finely pressure flaking, heavy resharpening indicates that they were often used as knife blades. This specific point is attributed to the ancestral proto-indians of the Choctaw tribe and was discovered near the Tennessee River in Western Tennessee. The item(s) are currently preserved within the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend.
