We've made some huge changes to how modeling is done in the new version of 3Ds Max - they've taken on a lot of the stuff from other Autodesk apps like Revit, Maya and SketchUp that deal with real-time interactive design tools. Now designers can easily test out architectural designs and see just what works. This includes having multiple objects as the focus while editing different components of your 3D scene; you don't have to work solely with individual models any more because 3Ds Max now supports hierarchical modeling!
