Large Nut and Bolt

Large Nut and Bolt

myminifactory

I designed custom toys for my two-year-old grandson, crafting a nut and bolt set that is both sturdy and easy to use. The threads are deliberately oversized, allowing them to rotate smoothly in and out, making it simple for him to assemble and disassemble the parts. I also created several plates and washers to complement the nuts and bolts, ensuring that he has all the necessary components to experiment with building different structures. To facilitate his learning experience, I crafted a wrench and screwdriver that are specifically tailored to work seamlessly with the custom parts. This setup enables my grandson to develop his problem-solving skills by figuring out how to use the tools effectively in conjunction with the various components. I utilized my Monoprice Dual Head 3D printer to produce these toys, setting the ABS bed temperature to 105 degrees Celsius and the head temperature to 225 degrees Celsius. The print bed was properly maintained with a clean PEI surface, which helps minimize warping and ensures that the printed parts retain their shape. For this particular print job, I opted for a 20% infill density without any support or raft, allowing the printer to produce a more detailed and intricate design. Additionally, I implemented a three-outline skirt around the print bed to guarantee optimal performance from the printer's head. The front of my printer is enclosed, and I've installed panels on the top and sides to trap heat inside, creating an ideal environment for printing with ABS. The result was a set of parts that barely warped at all due to the PEI print surface, making it easier to produce high-quality prints with minimal post-processing required.
