I created a recreation of the snap together Luxo Jr lamp scaled up to fit entirely within a 200mm x 200mm print bed's maximum dimensions. I crafted this design because existing Luxo Jr models were not detailed enough to scale up effectively. When printed at larger sizes, they suffered from issues like inadequate facets on the lamp bell and loose tolerances that made them unstable under their own weight. At 1:1 scale, this version features a base that almost completely fills a 200mm x 200mm print bed while keeping the lamp upright and reasonably sturdy. It's crucial to note that the snap fittings are intentionally tight in order for the entire assembly not to be flimsy. If you find the process frustratingly tricky, it's recommended that you begin with printing the simpler components such as box sections, rods, and hinges before attempting to assemble larger parts like the lamp bell or base. Using a forceful twisting motion often facilitates snapping them together successfully, although in challenging cases using a cutting tool can be helpful. You will find the parts fairly simple yet extremely time-consuming due to their large sizes. Minimal supports should be needed except for perhaps on the lamp bell. I recommend you use a high percentage infill for fragile items like the rods so they gain necessary strength. The hole located in the very rear of the bell back can easily accommodate most typical star mounted LEDs. As an option, consider installing springs and wire to guide light through dedicated holes within both the base and lamp bell, making your completed assembly complete and perfectly functional for use as any standard desk lamp. My own assembly even powers on from a USB port!
