Large Crazy Gear Desk Clock

Large Crazy Gear Desk Clock

myminifactory

This is the largest and best looking clock in a series called "Crazy Gear Desk Clocks". The gears have been extended well beyond the dial and are continually in motion providing a very striking look. The gears have a new profile optimized for printing at a large size. The clock operates silently with a typical accuracy of better than one second per month. A video of this clock is at youtube.com/shorts/ReKnLMyxin4 Additional videos showing assembly steps are coming soon. The overall size is 14.75" by 15.0" (375x380mm). Total print time is around 80 hours on a Prusa MK3S using 0.9kg of PLA. The largest component will fit on a Prusa Mini or any machine with at least a 175x175mm print area. The assembly guide showing the complete build instructions can be downloaded before purchase at stevesclocks.com/sp10 The primary non-printed components are:      CNC Shield V4 or Silent Shield Clock Controller (Etsy)     Ardiuno Nano     TMC2208 stepper motor driver     DS3231 precision real time clock     NEMA17 stepper motor (0.9 degree step size is preferred)     1/16" or 1.5mm music wire     #6x3/4" or M3.5x20mm flat head wood screws     M3x8mm screws All of the parts are available on Amazon or other standard sources. The Silent Shield Clock Controller is a custom clock control board on Etsy at etsy.com/listing/1464560995  It is available in kit form, partially assembled, or fully assembled. A cheaper option is a modified version of the CNC Shield V4 controller. Instructions are in the assembly guide. Use the forum at stevesclocks.com/forum to discuss clock making topics or assembly issues. There is a sub-forum set up specifically for electric clocks.   14-May-23 Update: Fixed a typo in the assembly guide and added a few additional diagrams. Typically, the most up-to-date assembly guide can always be downloaded from https://www.stevesclocks.com/sp10 17-May-23 Update: Added optional frame components with the legs merged into the center component. The file names are frame_*_merged.stl. They are not described in the assembly guide, but the steps should be obvious. The legs are pre-attached so the assembly steps to add the legs are no longer needed. They will need a printer with a 300x220mm print area.
