To extract textures from a .skp file in Sketchup, export the image as your preferred 2D format under File/Export/2D Graphic. In another method, export the 3D model as a COLLADA file and check 'Export Texture Maps' before locating the texture folder. C4D automatically generates a folder with textures next to the imported .skp file. With 3ds Max, textures are stored in the ..3dsMaxsceneassetsimages directory upon importing the .skp file.
