Large Box with Waves in Two Parts

Large Box with Waves in Two Parts

prusaprinters

This is a large 34x18.5x8cm box with waves printed in two parts. You have to print the object two times and glue it together at the special rim.

The box is designed to be printed using PETG, which is a challenge because of warping. The gcode file and 3mf project already contains four mouse ears to stick the box to the printer bed. Additionally, make sure the room temperature is constant or use an enclosure with a controlled temperature.

I printed the box with Prusament PETG Signal White, with an air temperature of ~32ºC to keep the warping as low as possible.

Before glueing, I roughen the rim with sandpaper and put Kapton-tape at the bottom to connect both pieces. Now I use 10-minute epoxy, carefully spread it thinly on both sides and fold the two parts connected with the Kapton tape together. Quickly removing any excess glue before it touches other surfaces.

Real Kaption-tape will not stick to the Epoxy and will create a perfect flat connection between the two parts. I put more Kapton tape on the sides and fasten the two parts securely together until the glue has dried.

I added additional gcode files for PLA on MKS3 and MINI. These files do not have mouse ears, because warping with PLA shouldn't be a huge problem.
