I was impressed by my employer's facility recently when one of its buildings got a high-tech alarm system upgrade. The professional in charge of this work expertly removed the old alarm system, and to cover up the exposed space where the central control panel used to be, created a hole in the wall that was both a functional and visually stunning aspect of the area's modern look. A friend of mine then took matters into their own hands, quickly taping a large piece of cardboard over the opening. With precision drawing tools, I carefully drew the outline around the gap with precision to get the right fit for it later. With that image on hand, we proceeded to use the digital scan function in AutoCAD to import and visualize the wall layout in 3D space. It made designing the cover plate a straightforward task that ended up blending beautifully into its surroundings so well most people hardly even notice it's there.
