Large Bed Mendel Max Printer Variant
thingiverse
A larger-format printer inspired by Mendel Max design is being developed as a group project at Port City Makerspace in Portsmouth, NH. The aim is to provide a 12" x 12" x 12" build volume with custom parts. The complete build documentation, including instructions, pictures, videos, notes, and bill of materials (BOM), is yet to be released. For now, information about the project can be found on the wiki here: https://sites.google.com/site/pcmakerspacewiki/home/project. However, not all information has been moved up to the wiki yet. Therefore, this printer should only be attempted by individuals or groups with previous reprap-style experience. The printer essentially builds like a Mendel Max. All linear motion in the axes is accomplished with 10mm smooth rods and linear bearings (LM10UU or equivalent). Printed parts are printed in PLA at 70% infill and .3mm layer height. Electronics can be whatever the builder prefers, such as RAMPS, a Printrboard, or a reprap Generation 7 Electronics board. The machine uses a custom X-carriage and direct-drive extruder mechanism designed by one of the group members. It should be printed in ABS to resist heat or an insulating wooden block can be installed if PLA is used. Custom extruder setups allow room for dual extruders, but this can be adapted for a single Wade's-style extruder if desired. The group plans to add more notes as they become available. Good luck!
