Large bag clip good for chips
thingiverse
I was stuck for something exciting and was eyeing one of those giant clips sold in stores, used for holding chips, when I declared to myself, "I bet I can tackle that!" So I set my mind to draft it up as a challenge. I think I managed to come up with an improved design, but since this part hasn't been printed yet, my opinion is still a rough estimate. It's essential to print the spring component out of something strong and bendable, such as ABS (printing it with PLA might result in it snapping, so be extremely cautious and make sure you carefully test the part while wearing protective eyewear before putting it into use). You might possibly get away with printing the actual clip components out of PLA though. I designed this in 123D Design, the file is attached, so feel free to modify the design if you need to make any adjustments. Things that I took into account while working on my design: 1) Durability. I reinforced all areas that seemed prone to failure. 2) Assembly Ease. I created the clip faces and spring with inclined planes to ensure a seamless snap-together fit. (I'm counting on it functioning as intended.) 3) Comfort. The clip should be easy on the hands. If any of you actually print this out, I'd love to know how it turns out!
