Laputa Robot Head Key Holder
thingiverse
The original project called for a 3D modeled and printed Coat Hook. I took a creative turn and designed a key holder instead. Inspired by Laputa's robot, the detachable eyeball features a slot for a RareEarth magnet, while the eye socket boasts a small crevice for the same magnet. This version was produced in ABS and measures approximately 117x121 mm. Print Settings Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: .2mm Infill: 20% Notes: In the two samples I printed, I opted not to use supports, but the extended part of the eyes would greatly benefit from having support. It's not overly complicated, and can be shaved off relatively easily with minimal integrity loss to the surface. Printed without supports would definitely look better. This key holder can hold about 4 keys or 2 key rings comfortably. Post-Printing A laptop edge provides a useful scale reference. In the process of drying: 3 layers of gesso and 3 layers of acrylic paint are applied. The final image showcases the completed key holder.
