My laptop's power connector was starting to wear out due to the strain it was receiving from the cable's weight and tension to the point where the plug easily slid out.  This prevents further damage and keeps the cable from sliding out.  I've just used a Command Strip strip to attach it.  It's sized for 6mm power cables
