I've got an old Lenovo x220 motherboard that I'm excited to repurpose. I recently stumbled upon a 10-inch LED panel that works perfectly with the motherboard. To build my small laptop, I need to gather additional components, including a keyboard, power supply, WiFi card, and LED cable, which I'll store in a wooden box. I've also started collecting other parts: speakers, camera, Bluetooth, WiFi antenna, and maybe even a new battery. From my "trash" drawer, I was able to salvage an HDD and memory, which I plan to install on an SSD for the main drive and connect the second drive using a SATA-USB enclosure. The project is already taking shape! The next steps are: 1. Mounting the LCD panel (it's 6mm thick, with holes for M3 screws) 2. Power cable mount - I've decided to keep the power supply outside the box, with a hole for M3 screws 3. Motherboard mounting system: designing a secure and stable way to hold the motherboard in place 4. Easy release HDD mount system: creating a simple mechanism to access the hard drive without having to open the entire laptop 5. WiFi card mount: figuring out how to securely attach the WiFi card to the motherboard 6. Opening and closing the LED panel with endstops and a fixed position 7. Keyboard mount: designing a comfortable and stable keyboard layout 8. Speakers mount, speaker grill: adding sound quality to my laptop 9. Camera mount: integrating a camera for video conferencing or photography 10. Bluetooth mount: connecting my laptop to external devices wirelessly 11. Cable guards: managing cables and keeping them organized within the laptop 12. WiFi antenna and antenna cables mount: finding a secure way to attach the antenna and cables 13-14 (optional): battery mount, second drive mount: adding power and storage capabilities The steps list may change as I come up with new ideas or encounter unexpected challenges. Your suggestions are welcome!
