Laptop HDD Hot Swap Cage
thingiverse
Please use Version 6 with Spacers, design has improved significantly! This 4-Bay SATA Hard Drive cage is designed for hot swap use. The cage can accommodate a 12.5mm laptop hard drive or solid state drive, while still allowing airflow over the top of the drive. Venting reduces plastic usage and enables fan mounting in front or on the sides. STL and Sketchup files are included for customization and remixing purposes. A bevel is designed at the back to support slanted Molex SATA connectors that can be hot glued into place. It's recommended to seat a drive in the connector first, then use hot glue to secure the SATA connector. This setup allows for hot swap functionality if supported, with drives aligned perfectly with the connector(s). Consider adding tabs to affix to the HDD for easy front access when pulling drives out. Drives protrude 15mm from the front of the cage, exposing screw holes at the end for mounting a handle. Glue components together for limitless SATA storage upgrades! Print settings are as follows: Printer brand: RepRap Printer model: FolgerTech Prusa i3 Aluminum 2020 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .12mm - .20mm layers with a .4MM nozzle Infill: 60% Notes: Best to print standing upright without supports. Simply use Rotate in Cura to re-orient the cage for up and down orientation.
