I had some spare Sata laptop drives collecting dust, so I decided to repurpose them as backup drives in a desktop setup. However, the existing drive rack on my machine was too bulky for my case, prompting me to design my own custom solution. This compact drive rack is surprisingly sturdy and was printed effortlessly in PLA plastic. Securing it in place required simply tapping case screws into mounting tabs. Revision 2 It seems like computer manufacturers refuse to standardize their hardware layouts, making compatibility a perpetual challenge. Initially, I attempted to use the first bracket on an HP machine but encountered misalignment issues. Undeterred, I revisited my design and narrowed the mounting holes to suit my new case setup. To further enhance compatibility, I slotted the SSD drive mounting holes for improved alignment. If there is sufficient interest in this project, I will design a revised version with mounting provisions for a stack of two drives while maintaining its single-slot configuration for 3.5-inch drives. If you're eager to get your hands on the STL file, feel free to message me and I'll upload it once completed.
