Lapstrake Motorboat Emerald Bay

Lying beneath 42 feet of water, this lapstrake motorboat (CA EB MF5) rests on the sloped bottom of Lake Tahoe within Emerald Bay State Park's boundaries. As part of the Emerald Bay Minifleet, this vessel dates back to the late 19th century and spans into the 1950s, closely tied to the historic Emerald Bay Resort. Measuring 16.7 square meters in area, the model is composed of 363 meticulously aligned images captured during a single 33-minute dive on July 26, 2016. Estimated error for this precise measurement stands at 0.000979 m. This collaborative project bringing together the Indiana University Center for Underwater Science and California State Parks has given birth to this exceptional model.
