Lanterns: The Harvest Festival. What a beautiful and refined game. Unfortunately, the lack of organization within is quite apparent. It seems there's no balance between yin and yang. All the components are more useful outside the box than inside, making it seem like a good idea to break them out into individual parts trays or shoes that can be scattered around the table as desired by the players. Tejawood was on the right track with their excellent Lanterns - The Harvest Festival box organizer design. I've borrowed heavily from its aesthetic but built this model from scratch. Two key requirements were that the trays/shoes couldn't move freely within the box and that the components would be kept in place by the lid. This is achieved through a baseplate featuring a well for each tray/shoe, which holds them in place while also raising each tray to match the top edge of the box. I'm including two versions of this model: - Split versions (as needed) with multiple parts for smaller format printers. For the baseplate, you'll want to print 2 rear extensions and 10 small square plank splices (11 if you're like me and tend to drop one into the abyss that is your printing table). For the dedications shoe, print 1 of its bottom splices, and for the tile shoe, print 1 of its bottom splices and 2 side splices. These serve as bridges and reinforcements where the two halves meet. Use supports just touching the build plate, and a bit of 5-minute epoxy will make the multiple parts one cohesive unit. Be cautious of squeeze-out when gluing the dedications shoe together, and lightly sand all mating faces for better adhesion. - Whole versions that can be printed as single pieces for larger format printers. This design passes my test for storage by packing the box, giving it a good shake while turning it in various directions, and ensuring everything stays in place.
