Lithophanes are supposed to measure 78mm x 100mm x 3mm, but when printed with Hatchbox copper PLA, they tend to shrink slightly. The copper PLA has a distinctive bronze-like appearance, so I opted to paint it to give it an authentic look. To create the lithophone, I used a 7-watt LED bulb with a candelabra base and a candelabra snap-in socket complete with cord and switch. For the print settings, I chose 20% infill density. If you appreciate this tutorial, a tip would be greatly appreciated! When printing the ring flat on the bed, it resulted in a slightly flattened area, but it was barely noticeable. In fact, it proved to be a better option overall. Assembly involves gluing the ring into place at the top, followed by attaching the first and second tops together. Next, I inserted the pegs into the base and secured the top in place with some additional glue. Some minor filing may be necessary to ensure that all parts fit snugly together. If you decide to build a lithophone, I'd love to see how yours turns out!
