Lantern for Mid-Autumn Festival

Lantern for Mid-Autumn Festival

thingiverse

I was challenged with designing a lantern for the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival that had to be both eco-friendly and innovative. So, I created this eco-friendly lantern using a solar LED from an Ikea Solvinden lantern and printed it in PLA. To enhance light transmission, I also printed an inner diffuser with clear PLA. You can skip the diffuser if you wish and simply tape paper to the inside instead. The lantern is sized so that half of a sheet of A4-sized paper (cut lengthwise) wraps around the diffuser and fits snugly inside the lantern body. You're free to paint, color, or draw on this paper for your desired design. To assemble the lantern, I threaded two lengths of fishing line, each 0.75 meters long, from the bottom up and then back down the opposite side. At the bottom, I tied knots to secure the lines in place.
