Lantern Fish Light

Lantern Fish Light

I created a unique fish lantern night light for my daughter, which I thought others might also want to create for themselves or their kids. To assemble the lantern, you'll need to locate and glue in place the Fin, Eyes, Mouth, and Tentacle. I used super glue and a hot glue gun for this step. The tentacle is printed in two halves and requires gluing together as well. When assembling the lamp, be sure not to glue the bottom nut and the tentacle bottom, as they are threaded to allow access after completion. This lantern design allows for multiple uses: 1. As a night light with one or two Neo-Pixel rings, print parts 12 and 13 to mount the LED ring and Arduino Nano. 2. As a custom night light with your own LEDs or LED bulb, each fin has an 8mm hole to mount a small LED. To do this, print part 14 instead of the standard disk, or customize your own disk to fit your setup (89.4mm x 3mm with a 20mm center hole). 3. As a money box, print parts 4-B and 15, which include a coin slot and a blank disk to seal off the lantern (coin slot is 7mm x 40mm). If you choose option 2, you'll need the following components: 1 x 7 LED Neo-Pixel Ring - RGB WS2812 1 x 24 LED Neo-Pixel Ring - RGB WS2812 (ID 72mm OD 85mm) 1 x Arduino Nano 1 x 1000UF 16V Electrolytic Capacitor 2 x Resistor 470 OHM - 1/4W 5% 4 x Resistor 10K OHM - 1/4W 5% 4 x Push Button 12MM - Black 1 x USB Cable + Light Switch You'll also need 8 x 1mm screws, 8mm long, to secure the Neo-Pixel rings and Arduino Nano. Print Settings: I used an 8% Cura Gyroid infill with a 5-layer top and bottom. Supports are required for the following parts: * 80° for parts 3-ii, 3-iii, 3-iv, 6, 7, and 11 * 60 to 70° for part 1; I recommend using 80° with custom supports on the belly of the fish. To get the body to fit in the Anycubic printer: 1. Rotate the fish 45° and center it. 2. When adding supports and plate adhesion, they might fall out of the build area due to the mouth's proximity to the edge. Reduce the length or width of the plate adhesion to ensure a proper fit.
