Landscape File Organizer #studentdesignchallenge
thingiverse
The intended use of this design is to organize folders and papers along with holding pens and pencils in the side cup. With classes being virtual this Fall and classwork submissions being purely online, there are a lot of loose papers. This design is intended to take up little desk space while providing a way to organize class materials. The design is supposed to resemble a city scape with the ocean and mountains so that it looks nice sitting on one’s desk. An issue I had while creating this design was getting the shapes on the file holders, the cityscape and mountains were particularly difficult. It took me several tries using different tools in the program to get them to look right and to be fully defined. I also had to remember to keep the walls of the entire design thick enough that it would be strong. This took me several readjustments to make sure the dimensions were perfect. If I were to redesign this again, I would add a few more compartments to hold other items such as a cubby under the pencil holder that could be used to keep notepads or sticky notes. I also might add another file holder compartment and make the design pattern on them different than the cityscape with waves and mountains. This design would be strengthened by 3D printing because it could be all one piece instead of multiple which would make it more stable. It also would be easier to get the precision in the different shapes.
