When the Nazis invaded Russia in 1941, they were impressed by the firepower and dominance of the Russian land Battleship, the KV-6. While the Nazis had their own land battleships, the Landkruezer P1000 Ratte and Landkruezer P1500 Monster, they felt that a smaller, faster, and more maneuverable tank was needed to complement these massive vehicles. Thus the Landkruezer 250 Tiger IV was designed. It was armed with two Tiger I turrets; two Panzer IV turrets, each equipped with a powerful 75 mm L70 gun; two Nebelwerfer 42 rocket launchers and a Flakvierling 38 quad 20mm anti-aircraft gun. The Landkruezer 250 Tiger IV played a crucial role in escorting the larger Landkruezer P1000 Ratte and Landkruezer P1500 Monster, providing protection from enemy aircraft while allowing these behemoths to focus on their primary mission of crushing enemy defenses.
