Landing Gear for SK450 Quadcopter Frame (Standard, Long, and Longer)
thingiverse
Never drag your payload again! This set of 3D models fits perfectly with the original landing gear that comes with the SK450 from Hobbyking or anywhere else. They use the same mounting system as the originals, so they require two screws that hold in the stock landing gear. Included are 55mm, 116mm, and 163mm landing gear heights to fit all your needs and printers. The smallest ones measure 55mm, roughly the same size as the stock gear. 116mm is what I use and photographed. The 163mm legs are a bit longer, allowing room for larger gear like a camera (DSLR) to be mounted under the frame. Also, note that longer legs may put more strain on your frame's arms if you land too hard! The main frame can flex downwards in case of a hard landing, potentially damaging the main arms or even snapping them off. I plan to design secondary gear around the central hub later to fix this problem. The last photo shows what happened when I landed hard – the gear broke, and that's great! I'll just print another one. I also had a sideways crash, and the arms did break, so maybe a breakaway design would be nice to save the frame at the expense of replaceable landing gear. Print in your favorite color! I chose red because it looks mean, and it'll make people think twice before messing with my quadcopter! **EDIT 9/03/2016:** Removed accidental hole from the longest landing gear. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Folger Tech Aluminum Prusa i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.1-0.3 (Doesn't really matter) Infill: 50-100% Notes: Make sure to print it lying down and not standing up, or else your gear won't be very strong! They should be in the right orientation within the STL files. The example used 0.2mm layer height, but it doesn't really matter what you use. For infill, if you use less, you'll have a lighter part, but it will be weaker! I'd recommend 70%. That's what I think I used. Maybe. How I Designed This: AutoCAD All I did was use calipers to get the major dimensions (width, length, hole distance, hole diameter) and eyeballed the overall shape to match the style of the original gear.
