British Royal Navy engineers designed the initial Tank Landing Craft (LCT) models for deploying tanks directly onto the beachhead. The Mk. IV variant, a wartime design, was larger than subsequent Marks V and VI LCTs. Capable of carrying up to nine Sherman Tanks, this craft underwent rigorous testing during the 1942 Dieppe Raid.
