Land Rover Wolf 90 (Army)
thingiverse
This continues my 'mini-series' on post-war Land Rovers used by the British Army in 1:76 scale. The model is a Wolf 90, which remains in service today, featuring the non-extended air intake variant - a derivative may follow - and again shown in the open-top version as I struggle with canvas covers and frames. The original design originated from SketchUp library courtesy of Austin T., who deserves all the credit. The design process was carried out as before; SketchUp allowed me to select parts of interest and split them into printable bits, then Microsoft 3D Builder corrected errors and manually strengthened where necessary (there was a considerable amount to do on this one, guided by trial prints). I've recently started using MiniMagics to produce 2D views for dimensional checking - it's proving very useful, even though it won't print the results (screen capture is the way to go). The 'crewtop' framework above the cab is delicate and may not be quite the right size at this moment as I had some issues with dimensional information. First prints came out a bit too large, so the drawings have been corrected. Further prints are scheduled as soon as possible, with updated information if necessary. Unfortunately, suffering from bad stringing in the prints; unsure of the cause. A photo of the crewtop is before I removed the supports - they're quite fragile. May need to strengthen part. This is of interest! As requested, I've cut open the engine compartment and removed the rear seats. There will still be some work to be done to ensure that all parts are thick enough for printing on some printers, but I hope these additional two files will be of use (body and bonnet).
