Land Rover Td5 Defender USB Socket adaptor
thingiverse
The Land Rover Defender Td5 Centre Console boasts a standard lighter socket on its left-hand side. In some models, you'll find the rear wiper control located on the right-hand side. Since mine doesn't have this feature, I decided to capitalize on the available space by installing a QuickCharge USB outlet. Upon closer inspection of my console, I discovered that the hole was initially covered with a removable plastic cover. After removing it, I found an unappealing rectangular hole adjacent to a circular one. To accommodate the USB outlet, I carefully drilled out the circular hole to a diameter of 30mm. This size allows for smooth installation and easy charging. A custom-printed piece covers the rectangular hole and aligns perfectly with the newly created circular opening. The trim piece is held securely in place by the USB outlet itself. I sourced my USB outlet from eBay, where it performed admirably, quickly recharging my phone in under an hour.
