I purchased a cord and socket online with the intention of hanging it from the ceiling but struggled to find a lampshade that would fit snugly over the oversized socket. Fortunately, the metal collar lampshades that come included are designed for friction fit installation. With just a pair of pliers and some gentle bending, they can be easily removed when needed.
