Lamprophyre dyke detail #2, Moonbi Monzongranite
sketchfab
Here you can see an intrusive lamprophyre dyke cutting through solid granite rock, leaving behind a fractured pegmatitic phase that has been pushed aside. The dyke's edges are convoluted and uneven, revealing a rounded fragment of the host granite that has sunk into the molten magma - clear evidence of a partially melted granite parent rock at the time of the dyke's intrusion. A lens cap measures approximately 62 millimeters in diameter.
