Jews celebrate Chanukah not just the victory over the Seleucids and the restoration of the cult of the temple. This holiday is a manifestation of reverence for God, who performed a miracle in the Temple. In commemoration of this event, Jews light candles on an eight-branched chanukiah. Because according to religious orders, each candle should be lit from an additional source of light - in the menorah also placed so-called shames, or additional wick, from which ignite candles. The exhibit belonging to the collection of the Gliwice museum has as many as 4 shames. They distinguish it also skilled ornaments rich symbolism - birds as a symbol of blessing, and lions being a symbol of the tribe of Judah, the house of David, power, and redemption.
