This is my first practical design for a printable desk lamp that's actually useful. The lamp has two separate parts: a sleek base and an elegant shade. The base holds a standard 68mm/2.75" diameter LED "puck" light, powered by three AAA batteries that cost just $9.98 at Lowes - and they even include the batteries. I bought three of these lights, and the photos show the lamp base with the puck, the lamp lit up in a dark room sitting on a grey bedspread, and the lamp on my desk both lit and unlit. Check out this link to see more about the puck light: http://www.lowes.com/pd_406110-43768-NS511-R6-306_... I originally designed the base to hold a wall-powered light that I found really cool - it had a nifty remote control. But when I couldn't find a socket that fit, I substituted the LED puck light instead. With this design, you don't even need the base - the shade can sit right on a table top with the light inside it if you prefer. I plan to redesign the base soon, giving it a more organic shape that matches the overall shade design. The base prints in about three hours, and the shade takes around seven hours to print. I used a 0.200 mm layer height for both parts, but note that the shade only touches the print bed at a small area, so you'll need to use a brim when printing. For my print, I used six loops of brim with each loop being 0.400 mm. My next design will feature this same shade but with twisted ribs on the outside.
