This is my first practical design for a printable desk lamp, which has two distinct parts: the base and the shade. The base houses the light source, a standard 68mm/2.75" diameter LED "puck" light powered by three AAA batteries. I purchased three of these lights at Lowes for $9.98, including the batteries. The photos display the lamp base with the puck, the lamp lit in a dark room on a grey bedspread, and the lamp on my desk both lit and unlit. A link to the puck light is provided: http://www.lowes.com/pd_406110-43768-NS511-R6-306_. The original design intended for the base to hold a wall-powered light, with space for a power cord; however, I was unable to find a suitable socket, so I substituted the LED puck light instead. This design allows for flexibility - you can print just the shade and place it directly on a table top with the light inside. I plan to redesign the base with an organic shape that complements the overall shade design. The base prints in approximately three hours, while the shade requires about seven hours, using a 0.200 mm layer height for both parts. It's essential to use a brim when printing the shade due to its small surface area on the print bed; I used six loops with each loop measuring 0.400 mm for my print. My next design will feature this same shade with twisted ribs on the outside. Edit: lampbase.stl is an alternative, simpler base that prints faster and easier.
