This Is My First Attempt To Replace The Cheap Japanese Lamp That You Initially Buy To Conceal The Bare Bulbs Until After 10 Years When You Decide To Replace It. The Diameter Of This Object Is 38cm, A Standard Bulb Fits In (for Example 220 V 70W, 5.5 Cm Diameter) Each Piece Needs To Be Printed 16 Times, Except For The Support Which Is Only Printed 6 Times As Shown In The Last Picture. Watch Out: You May Find It Beautiful But It's A Nightmare To Assemble With More Than 20 Hours Required For Completion. I Post This Object Primarily To See How Skilled Individuals Can Make It More Mechanically Buildable And Also To Give Some Inspirations And Lessons Learned From One Of My First Designs. Note: You Have To Drill Two Square Holes At The Top Of Two Opposed Meridians To Insert The Support. A Nylon Tie On The Electric Wire Avoids The Support From Gliding Downwards. Printer Settings: * Brand: RepRap * Printer Model: Prusa I3 * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: Doesn't Matter * Resolution: 0.3mm * Infill: Infinite Walls Notes: Sorry, Some Of The Stl Files Are Not Laid Flat. How I Designed This: The Goal Is To Have A Globe With Meridians And Parallels Where Light Is Diffused Through Or Reflected By The Very Thin Plastic (0.3mm), But Regardless Of Your Position You Cannot See The Bulb And Be Blinded. My First Design Attempt Was To Print One Meridian Flat On The Bed And Raise The Parallels During The Same Print, But This Failed As Single Layer Walls Tend To Wobble After 1cm High. After Several Attempts, I Arrived At The Current Design With The Meridian Split Into Two Parts For My 22*22 Cm Bed. I Used Sketchup And Provided A 3Ds File.
