Lamp Knob Replacement
cults3d
Replacing Standard Lamp Knob with Ease. Replacing a worn-out lamp knob is a straightforward process that requires some basic tools and a bit of patience. The first step is to remove the old knob from the socket, taking care not to strip the threads in the process. Once the old knob is out, it's time to prepare the new one for installation. The hole size specified on the replacement lamp knob is designed for a 2-56 thread, but it can be easily enlarged to accommodate larger threads (I've successfully drilled and tapped another one for 4-40 threads). If your lamp socket has a different thread size, you may not need to drill or tap the new knob. To create this replacement part, I used Sketchup 8 to design it from scratch. The model was then printed using a Makerbot Replicator 2 with PLA material and Makerware 2.3.3.42 software under "Standard" settings. For added strength, consider increasing the infill percentage during the printing process.
