I designed something that lets you hold up a window light in a more permanent way than just nailing it, and this is what I came up with. It holds onto the cable and only uses one screw to stick into the wall. This thing is thick enough so that the lamp cord can stick out from behind the molding. The part of the cord that sticks out has dimensions of about 3.5 by 5.5 millimeters.
