Lamp Finial
thingiverse
As I await my first printer's delivery, I decided to pass time by understanding the process. I replicated a living room lamp in Rhino, turning it into an STL file and slicing it into g-code. The lamp features a 5.7mm hole that goes halfway through, which I measured as inner thread diameter; slight enlargement may be needed for smooth screwing. Eager to see the printed hole's diameter compared to my measurement. Update: My printer arrived, and attached are photos of the printed version and original. The hole size was 5.6mm, impressive accuracy on perimeter width.
