Laminar Flow Fan plate
thingiverse
This is a Custom Fan Control Plate design that enhances laminar flow for more efficient fan operation. Turbulence reduction enables precise pressure control and a smooth air current.\nSturdy straight blades reduce noise while retaining optimal performance; curving these blades, however, can cause turbulence due to reduced static pressure compared to straight counterparts.\nThe concept has been applied successfully in Noctua NF-F12 fans and SilverStone Air Penetrator units, as demonstrated in this YouTube video.\nI've printed 92mm and 120mm plates which perform effectively in conjunction with curved edge fans that spin counterclockwise, representing over 99% of fans on the market.\nThe revised pressure curve isn't known; however, it's likely to yield significant results.\nOn August 20th, I released V4 version for 40mm units; this design poses some printing challenges due to the slim blade size but promises a balance comparable to the other versions when used with Fan FD244010HB and produces only a minor 2-4% reduction in air flow coupled with an impressive pressure increase of up to 20%. Plate installation should be done facing Q-marking on top; using Cura software within Repetier Host V1.0.2 for printing didn't encounter any problems.\nThis project aims to create enhanced air circulation performance for home systems.
