Lamborghini Aventador\n\nThe Lamborghini Gallardo (/gaɪˈjärdoʊ/; Spanish: [gaɪˈraɰo]) is a sports car manufactured by the Italian automotive company Lamborghini from 2003 to 2013. It was Lamborghini's most successful model with 14,022 units produced throughout its production run.[7] Named after a well-known breed of fighting bull,[8] the V10-powered Gallardo has been Lamborghini's top seller and companion to a succession of V12 flagship models—first to the Murciélago (4,099 built between 2001 and 2011), then to the current flagship, the Huracán. On November 25, 2013, the final Gallardo rolled off the production line. The Gallardo was replaced by the Aventador in 2014.\n\nFirst Generation\nSee also: Lamborghini Cala\n\nLamborghini Gallardo Coupé\nThe initial generation of the Gallardo was powered by a precise even firing 4,993 cc (5.0 L) 90-degree V10 engine that produced a maximum power output of 500 PS (368 kW; 493 hp). The Gallardo offers two choices of transmissions: a standard six-speed manual transmission and a more advanced six-speed electro-hydraulically controlled semi-automatic manual transmission called E-gear. The E-gear enables the driver to shift gears much faster than they could with a traditional manual transmission. The driver shifts up and down using paddles behind the steering wheel, but can also change to an automatic mode via the gear selector located in place of the standard gear shift lever.[9] The vehicle was designed by Luc Donckerwolke based on the 1995 Cala prototype developed by Italdesign Giugiaro.\n\n2006 Coupé update\nFor the 2007 model year (launched late in 2006) Lamborghini introduced several significant changes to improve the car's performance and driving dynamics. The changes were implemented through a limited edition Gallardo SE that featured a more sporty exhaust system, revised suspension, new steering rack, increased engine power of 20 PS to 520 PS (382 kW; 513 hp), and reduced gearing ratios in 1st to 5th gear. These upgrades greatly enhanced the car's overall performance compared to its original specifications.
