Lamborghini, an Italian luxury sports car and SUV manufacturer based in Sant'Agata Bolognese, was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini to rival Ferrari. Gaining acclaim in 1966 for its Miura coupé, the brand popularized rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layouts in high-performance cars. Despite rapid growth in its first decade, sales plummeted after the 1973 financial crisis and oil crisis, leading to multiple ownership changes. Chrysler Corporation took control in 1987 and later sold it to Malaysian and Indonesian investors before Volkswagen Group's Audi division acquired it in 1998. Today, Lamborghini manufactures the Aventador and Huracán sports cars, along with the Urus SUV, powered by a V12 and twin-turbo V8 engines respectively.
