It is the crown jewel of Lambeth Town Hall, also widely known as Brixton Town Hall, serving as the main headquarters for the London Borough of Lambeth on Brixton Hill and Acre Lane in Brixton, London SW2. This Grade II listed building was constructed in 1908 and masterfully designed by Septimus Warwick. In 1905, a highly competitive architectural competition for the new Town Hall drew an impressive 143 entries, with the top prize going to two talented young architects, Mr Septimus Warwick and Mr Herbert Hall. The foundation stone was laid on July 21st, 1906, and the building was officially inaugurated by King George V and Queen Mary (then Prince and Princess of Wales) on April 29th, 1908.
