Lake Tahoe Bathymetric Model
thingiverse
Scaled (1:150,000) 3D bathymetric model of Lake Tahoe, based on NOAA bathymetry data. Finishing the model: The best look for elevation models is metallic silver. I coat models with ceramcoat, or you can use any wood plastic paint prep material that infills porosity. Then spray paint with Rustoleum Silver Metallic, which gives a nice luster and depth to ridges and valleys in elevation models. A very high quality gold metallic (very shiny) also looks good. I do not recommend a non-shiny paint or darker colors as the model will not display well. You can also infill with a thicker epoxy (not thing water type flower vase epoxy) , and use epoxy specific transparent dye drops to color the water blue. Silver paint and blue water looks good and accentuates the depth transitions. A near-white blue similiar to a pool bottom would also be nice.
